Although we live on a small island in the Trondheim fjord, and therefore have a location that is ideal for a life of solitude (one of the principle characteristics of our Order), we also live in a close knit community.  That may sound like a contradiction (solitude AND community) but if you are called to our way of life, perhaps it will make sense.  To live peacefully in solitude, you also need to be a person who can relate well to others and are able to live in community.

Many periods in our day require working or praying with others, for example, singing the Office seven times a day in the Church, or working together on a project...perhaps making soap or cosmetic creams, or working in the garden.
